Self Worth and Self love....

The value of ones self is important in all aspect of our day to day life, how we relate to people, how we function in relationships, how we handle simple problems and lastly just how we allow people to treat us. We have to be the first ones to appreciate our talents and attributes highlighting all the good in our self and knowing who we are before we expect others to highlight them.

I am sure that like many things in life such is taught or for want of a better word 'developed' at a tender age, I am sure if you constantly heard that you are not good enough or you were praised for the things you did well, the outcome will surely be different. This among other things will coin the the value you have for your self.

With all that said lets dive right in; when do we realize that a current situation has gone too far and its all because we did not value ourselves, our beliefs and most importantly our talents. Oft times it is the people who we believe loves us that we try to please and lose ourselves, but if from the start we loved ourselves and knew our true worth then it would be hard for people to push us.

One of the things I find hard to understand is why do some women allow a man to continually put them down and in some extreme case hit them. Another is this whole bleaching idea whats going on with that, as I said before we have to accept our own being. In regards to women allowing men to put them down and sometimes beat them I must say I am not here to judge and ostracize. I am merely using an example to say If we value ourselves and our worth then, it will be much easier to move on from such a situation. We would  know that someone else will accept us for who we are.
Now about the bleaching why would I want to change my complexion is it that I don't accept myself or according to my friend it just style, but what type of style would  recommend that I change me.
I have no idea why some people do the things they do but One thing I know is that when we have enough worth and know it, that sure cuts back on a lot of pain.

please be accepting of your self and not just the positive things but also the flaws, learn to love from within and don't change who you are for anyone. If the people around you tear you down find new people you are worth it.

  2. Bleaching is the "new" craze in Jamaica; everybody a "rub". Vybz Kartel--after years of denial--now proudly proclaims that he bleaches his skin, purportedly because it makes his tatoos more visible. So what about others who don't have tatoos to show? why do they bleach? The Jamaica Obsever recently published an article titled, "Professionals bleaching too." The article highlighted that many Jamaicans, including high-level professionals, bleach their skins because of self-hatred, i.e, they hate their blackness.

But, is style or self-hatred really worth skin cancer? For many, yes. Whatever the reason for bleaching, the practice is indefensible. I believe, however, that bleaching is simply a symptom of a more dangerous and widespread disease: many Jamaicans--even dark skin ones--think that whiter means "better". Almost everything that many of us associate with beauty relates to "whiter" features: striaght nose, light skin, "good" hair, etc. Relatedly, the more prominent people in Jamaican society seems to be light skinned. Lastly, even the Bible supposedly curse dark skin people. These factors seem to lead many to believe that if you want to be perceived as beautiful or good, or you want to advance in Jamaican society, you have to be "light" skinned, or white. Such antiquated beliefs are obviously remnants of slavery and colonialism. Nevertheless, we cannot continue to blame slave masters and colonialists for our current warped perception of blackness. It is indefensible for any person--of any color--today to believe that race/color dictates supremacy, or beauty. If you are Black and are still of that mindset, then you are regrettably mentally enslaved, and according to Bob Marley, "none but [yourself] can free [your] mind." That said, I am liberated, mentally: I love me; I love my beautiful black face; I love my big nose; and most of all, I love my sexy megasize lips.
